About the MOSAIC Project

MOSAIC is a European research and innovation project aimed at transforming multimedia content management through the integration of advanced artificial intelligence tools.

A key ambition of the project is to enable the transformation of European content archives by supporting the creation of new media content that can be easily adapted and reused across different European countries. This is achieved by embedding AI capabilities such as automatic subtitling, dubbing, transcriptions, translation and summarisation in multiple European languages including English, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Catalan, Slovenian and Estonian.

MOSAIC enables cross-border collaboration, streamlined operations, wider content distribution, and more inclusive audience reach, promoting adoption beyond the content’s original market.

Another distinguishing feature of the project is its strong European footprint: all technologies integrated into the platform are developed by local providers; truly made for and by the European media ecosystem.

Building a future-proof platform for the media industry

With this project, Fincons is playing a key role in laying the groundwork for the next generation of media workflows: AI-driven, interoperable, and built for efficiency.

In fact, the MOSAIC application has been designed as a modular web-based platform, with a headless backend that serves as a middleware layer, bridging the gap between third-party AI tools and the user-facing React-based frontend.

The backend orchestrates several key architectural components:

  • a storage and a persistence layer for media content and metadata storage that is shared with technology partners;
  • an API gateway that connects the frontend with the backend, and the backend with AI tools developed by European specialized technology partners, such as Pangeanic and Infalia;
  • a user-friendly web interface providing seamless access to the platform’s features, including advanced search and results filtering;
  • an authorization layer based on a federated Keycloak system, enabling secure and consistent access control.

By leveraging standardised APIs, strong authentication protocols, and flexible configuration options Fincons also ensures that AI tools are securely and seamlessly integrated into the platform.

At the technical core of the MOSAIC platform lies a cutting-edge microservices-based architecture, designed and implemented by Fincons.
This approach ensures modularity, scalability, adaptability and efficiency not just for today, but for the future.

The entire technology stack is the result of a close collaboration among European partners, combining research excellence with industrial expertise. By relying on made-in-Europe solutions, the project promotes a future-ready, transparent, and accountable innovation ecosystem that complies with EU standards and legislation, reinforcing Europe’s commitment in ethical and trustworthy AI applications in the media sector.

Cutting-edge technology, real-world testing, and tailored solutions for broadcasters

One of the major strengths Fincons brings to the table is its proven ability to orchestrate complex, distributed systems. By aligning technical robustness with user-centric design, Fincons ensures the platform is not only high-performing but also intuitive and reliable, tailored to the real-world operational needs of media professionals.

Before deployment, the platform will go through comprehensive technical validation to ensure every component meets strict performance and reliability standards. This will be followed by real-world piloting in media environments, carried out by project partners.

Each broadcaster involved will receive a dedicated “MOSAIC node”, a custom version of the platform with full control over the content. These nodes can optionally share content with one another, giving users the freedom to collaborate without compromising control over their assets.
