Hupac’s BRAVE Project: Towards a Scalable Pricing and Billing Model for Intermodal Transport
The Challenge
In 2024 Hupac, a leading company in the intermodal transport sector across Europe, entrusted Fincons Group with the BRAVE project, aimed at addressing their growing complexities in pricing and billing processes.
The project was scheduled for completion within one year and encompassed more than 60 advanced developments, with the following objectives:
- Simplify pricing rules through a scalable solution;
- Integrate a new commercial offer programme;
- Increase automation in invoice generation and control;
- Enabling faster and more reliable finance closing.
The solution
The BRAVE project introduced a new dedicated offer management programme integrated with SAP, enabling the reading and updating of sales price lists in real time, leveraging a brand-new, complete and structured data base. Operational transport data continues to be managed in GOAL/WOLF - the company’s existing systems, while SAP has become the core system for sale price determination and customer invoicing.
Pricing strategies aligned with commercial objectives have been designed and implemented, simplifying pricing rules, while ensuring flexibility for intermodal transport scenarios.
This comprehensive initiative enables the end-to-end management of commercial offers, from quotations to invoicing, with advanced real-time integration between SAP and all external systems used for booking and service monitoring.
Automated invoice controls and structured data flows ensure consistency and accuracy, while making operational information fully available for profitability analysis prior to invoice issuance, supporting fast closing and improved financial governance.
The benefits
The BRAVE project optimised the entire active billing process, reducing by half the invoice verification and validation times.
Real-time monitoring of invoices and full integration between sales and finance on SAP ensure transparency and financial control, while pricing is now calculated dynamically using scalable condition tailored to intermodal transport logic.
