Fashion is one of the sectors in which Italy excels globally, where creativity is a key driver of success. In this context, the INTRECCI DIGITALI project aims to revolutionize the textile industry through generative AI, supporting designers in the selection and creation of new fabrics while optimizing costs and sustainability.
The project’s challenge is to integrate Artificial Intelligence into textile production processes to enhance creative and artisanal heritage through the digitalization of textile archives.
The high-resolution 3D digital archive of fabrics enables the training of an AI model that supports visual and textual fabric search, the generation of new virtual fabric variants, the simulation of production feasibility for new fabrics, and the inversion of the creative process through AI by suggesting new fabric designs based on objectives such as environmental impact, production cycle, or material availability.
Leveraging its expertise in system integration, Fincons has designed and developed the cloud components for the digital fabric archive, as well as access control and blockchain-based traceability features. The company has also collaborated with F.lli Piacenza Group, the industrial partner of this project. They provided both a physical fabric archive and acted as tester for the solution. We also collaborated with Fondazione Bruno Kessler to integrate innovative technologies into creative processes.
The project is part of the PNRR Program: Made in Italy Circular and Sustainable – MICS, Spoke 1 – Theme 3 “Development of advanced image-based technologies for the digital acquisition of realistic materials in the textile industry, aimed at visualizing in virtual environments the overall appearance of acquired textile samples and implementing a seamless digital archive of PBR textures.”, Cascade Calls for Enterprises.
